The July Book Round Up

White Fragility by Robin Diangelo

A must-read!

If the title scares you, good, it scared me too. I knew about this book for years, and at first, I hated it because of the title. Then I learned more about it and thought, okay this book isn’t truly the devil. Then in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, I joined a book club that is centered all-around educating yourself more on race and this was the first book, in which I was glad.

It opened my eyes to what goes on around me and America. Mostly it defined what white culture was, something I was oblivious too because I thought it was too much of an individual to fit into a specific white culture.

This is a huge recommendation from me.

12 Years a Slave

Another must-read!

I bought this last year on vacation in Virginia when we hit the beach along with the Historic Triangle. I already planned to read it this year, and it was crazy and a blessing to read this book during this time in history.

This is a huge recommendation from me.

Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke

I already wrote about this book briefly in another post you can find here. But I loved this book!! Attica is amazing, the plot and characters are amazing and the mystery was so enthralling. The twists were crazy and satisfying. this is a huge recommendation from me.
